Maidstone - A Location for Business Maidstone is the County Town of Kent, the largest county in the South East. With 75,000 inhabitants Maidstone town is one of the largest towns in Kent. The Borough has a substantial rural area with a number of attractive market towns and villages including Staplehurst, Bearsted and Yalding. As the County Town, Maidstone is the administrative centre and home to Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council, Kent Police and The Kent Fire Authority.

The town is ranked as one of the top shopping centres in the South East of England, second only to Bluewater in Kent, with approximately 1.3 million square feet of retail floorspace. Recently, the riverside area has been enhanced by the Lockmeadow Leisure complex, which provides a multi-screen cinema, restaurants, night-clubs and a market in the centre of town, and maintains the town as a lively centre throughout the evening. This strategy of promoting high quality facilities within the town centre continues with the proposed Fremlin Walk shopping centre beside the river, which will increase retail space to approximately 1.6 million square feet, and the recently completed town centre environmental improvements.

	The town is at the heart of the Garden of England, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The River Medway runs through the busy town centre, and boasts the newly opened 10 km long Millennium River Park project, the largest Millennium project in Kent, which has provided a new public park next to the river, with two new foot bridges. The project has also seen the development of a new open air amphitheatre in the town centre, the award winning Lockmeadow footbridge, along with new public art, children's play areas, a skate park and upgrading of the tow paths. This unique attraction is accessible to residents and visitors and is within easy walking distance of the town centre..

The town is strategically located on the motorway network, with four junctions off the M20 motorway, and is also serviced by three rail stations with links to London and the region. The town's award-winning Park and Ride scheme provides quick and easy access into the centre and there are also over 4,000 town centre parking spaces.
